Reverberation

Reverberation

What?

1. The persistent continuation of sound after the sound source has stopped

2. Multiple random, repetitions of a sound that increases in density and decreases in strength over time

Why? (Why Artificial reverb?)

In multi-track recording:

- To add “Sense of occasion” (sense of relaity)

- Reverb can make you feel like you’re in the room when the music is being played

- Reverb adds a second dimension to recording (a sense of space in reality)

- Reverb can be used for the separate performances, giving them the effect of playing together in same space

*3 Basic types of reverb:

1. Acoustic Reverberation (Room sound)

- Application for classical music, choirs, opera, jazz, rap, R&B, rock, mongo drums, etc.

2. A live chamber (Signature sound)

3. Digital reverb (Artificial reverb)
