Patchbay -> make connection easier

 

3 types:

1) Cheap semi-pro patchbay

: For 1/4" unbalanced cable

2) Expensive professional patchbay

: For 1/4" balanced cable

3) Snake cable box

 

 

*4 types of patching:

Multi, Independent, Full-Normal, Half-Normal

 

 

1. Multi

- Allows 1 signal to be split/divided/distributed to multiple destinations

- Multi-patchbay enables one sound source to be played in multiple equipments

2. Independent

- Each patch point is not connected to any other patch point (Each patch point is not wired to any other patch point). Each patch point only goes directly to/from a device

- Top jacks for outputs, Bottom jacks for inputs 

- Two usages for independent patchbay:

i) For outboard gear

e.g. reverbs, equalizer, compressor

ii) Tie-Lines: to/from other rooms

e.g. broadcasting system
