Diode: Forward Bias, Reverse Bias

The Music Telegraph| 입력 : 2019/07/12 [13:36]

▲ When a diode is connected in forward biased, current flows through the diode and it conducts.

If the diode is flipped around so that the positive voltage is supplied to the cathode and negative voltage to the anode, the diode is said to be reverse biased. In a reverse biased condition, the diode will not conduct and current will not flow.

- Current flows from positive to negative

- A good diode will indicate a low ohms reading when forward biased and an infinite resistance  when reverse biased

- If a diode indicates a low resistance when both forward and reverse biased, that diode is said to be shorted, no good.
