Tips for Arranging killer tracks

Tip 1:

Have the bass play rhythms similar to what the kick drum plays. Don't use too many different notes in the bass line and don't deviate from the rhythm of the kick drum very often. This will give your bottom a solid 'punch' and provide an indication as to what chords you will play on the keyboard.

Tip 2:

Only play one note at a time on the bass. Too many notes on the bass sounds muddy.

Tip 3:

Chords are where you play more than one note at a time (usually three or four notes). Make sure that your chord contains at least one of the notes you are playing in the bass.

Tip 4:

Use a thinner, higher frequency patch for your additional synthesizer track. Play only one or two notes at a time using notes from the chords and bass and including a few extra notes in-between.
