Milan, Italy-based independent audio-software brand Transientik Labs, founded by musician and software developer Giuliano Golfieri, has recently released 'Transientik Master', an analysis-driven mastering and audio restoration plug-in. The company describes the software as "an explainable, deterministic mastering system that analyzes a complete track, builds a destination-aware processing chain, and leaves every setting open to inspection and adjustment." Inserted on a DAW's master bus, Transientik Master performs a complete listening pass of the entire track before generating any processing. During playback, it captures analysis frames every 100 milliseconds and evaluates loudness, spectral balance, stereo imaging, phase relationships, transient behavior, and technical safety risks. Instead of relying on simple arithmetic averages, the engine uses weighted percentile statistics so that musically significant sections of a song receive greater influence than quiet intros, fades, or ring-outs. This structured analysis becomes the foundation for all subsequent mastering decisions.

Once analysis is complete, users can choose from eight destination profiles: Streaming Loud, Streaming Safe, CD, Vinyl, DJ Set, Cinematic, Just Make It Loud, and Skip/Manual. One notable advantage is that the completed analysis can be reused while switching between delivery targets, allowing engineers to compare different mastering strategies without replaying the entire song. After selecting a destination, users can further refine the result using twelve perceptual adjustment directions at three intensity levels or move directly into the Advanced interface for complete manual control.

 

The Advanced processing section includes dedicated CLEAN, EQ, COMP, and LIMIT modules. Available tools include De-Metallic and De-Mud processing, Stereo Repair, Transient and Presence controls, four adjustable EQ slots, three-band compression, a bus compressor, clipping, limiting, scalable interface zoom, and a global dry/wet control for the compressor section. Every automatically generated parameter remains visible throughout the workflow and can be modified individually or restored to its original value, allowing users to combine automation with their own engineering judgment.

A key feature of Transientik Master is its emphasis on explainability. Every significant processing action is recorded in a structured DecisionTrace, while ReasonCodes document why a particular adjustment was made or why it was intentionally skipped. The plug-in also provides an Analysis Results report and a Problem Radar. The BEFORE polygon represents the analyzed source material, while the AFTER polygon represents the current processing chain’s corrective response across five categories: mud, harshness, clipping, phase compatibility, and stereo-width safety. This design enables engineers to inspect and understand every major processing decision instead of simply accepting an unexplained automatic result.

 

Another important characteristic is its deterministic processing philosophy. In practical terms, the same captured analysis, destination, settings, and plug-in version resolve to the same parameter targets and decision trace. Atlanta-based Aucourant Media Services, a professional mastering and audio post-production studio, has incorporated the plug-in into its workflow.
