Review (Con’t)

5. Pro Tool’s four main editing function

- Shffle, Sopt, Slip, Grid

6. Two down points of loading/running your session from CDR?

1) you can’t save to CD (because CD is always finalized)

2) It will not read fast enough from CD in real-time

7. If A/D better ==> Gives better quality of audio

*Quality of Digital Audio depends on mainly A/D converter

8. Tracks in Pro Tools = Play list

9. Session file ==> Information that where your audio file is

10. ‘Disk allocation’ says that where the audio for the session is

11. Pro Tools session finds Audio File for that session by referring to “the disk allocation”

12. When the session finds the audio files it uses two different types of ‘Time Stamps’:

i) Original Time Stamps: stored in Audio file

ii) Usual Time Stamps: saved in session file

13. Time Stamps (imprints) ==> Gives you time location of sound bits

[side trip]

In MP3 file, Hi-hat sounds are bad compared to CD sound. Especially high frequency sounds bad in MP3 file. Why?

==>   If frequency increase in 'sample rate/freq.' then 'number of sample/cycle' decrease

e.g. 44.1 kHz/22.05 kHz = 2 samples/cycle;

44.1 kHz / 44.1 kHz = 1 samples/cycle
