Studio Design

*2 basic concepts for Studio Design:

1) Isolation

2) Acoustic treatment

<Room Size>

*Low Frequency Capability: If a room is not large enough, you can’t get enough low frequency

1st step: f0 = v/2L = the room resonant frequency (LF cut off)

v = velocity (1130ft/sec)

2L = 2 x a Length

(Length: the longest dimension of the room; length, width, or height)

f0 = 565/L = 1130/2L = 1130/λ ( f=v/λ)

*With low frequency, the dimension must equal to 1/2 wavelength in order for that frequency to exist.

*This only works on a ‘completely sealed space’.

*Any “leaks” in the room couples that space to the outside

*If a room is completely sealed, you do not need ‘isolation ventilation’
