Sound Quality

1. Sound Quality evaluation criteria

- Clarity (Clear/Muddy)

- Definition (High Resolution/Low Resolution)

- Localization (Correct/Incorrect)

- Stereo Image (Wide/Narrow)

2. Physical Scale of Sound Quality

- Distortion (Clear/Dirty)

- Frequency Response (Responsive/Distorted)

- Transient Response (Clean/Muddy)

- S/N Ratio (Clear/Noisy)

3. Psycho Acoustic Response

- Sound Pressure (dB): Loudness/Softness

- Frequency Response (Hz): Pitch

- Spectrum (dB + Hz): Timbre

*It is simple to equal the volume of a piano note with the volume of a violin note. It is simple to equal the pitch of a piano note with the pitch of a violin note. However, even if the volume and pitch of the two notes are the same, the note of the piano and the violin are distinctly different, because the tone (Timbre/Tone Color) is different.

*Factors that determine Timbre (Tone Color):

1) Spectrum

2) Envelope

3) Frequency
