Mixing Console (3)

Console's Input Section:

1. Matrix mixer

- Used to route audio signals from multiple sources to different destinations

A type of mixer that allows any input to be routed to any output

This is accomplished through a relatively elaborate bussing system whereby each output is driven by n number of level controls (where n in this case is equal to the number of input channels)

- Used to supply alternate (optimized) mixes to different areas of the venue (e.g. in theater environments, in live concerts)

The bussing system determines to which Bus the input signal will go

*A bus (mix bus) is a way to send or "route" one or more selections of audio to a particular place

2. Direct Input

- Sends channel signals directly to the same number of track on the M-TRK (Multi-track recorder)

- It bypasses the Bus and closes that number of Bus to any other signal
