Indexing

Indexing allows DAT subcode information to be recorded without affecting existing audio on the tape. The procedures that follow in usual involve reading, writing, erasing and rewriting functions. 

 

 

*The following indexing function subcodes are available with the Panasonic SV3500 DAT recorder (see the above photo):

 

1) Start ID

Indicating the beginning of a program.

 

2) Skip ID

Causes the unit to go into fast-forward until the next Start ID is reached. This is used in order to skip unwanted material.

 

3) End Mark

Indicates the end of the last recording on the tape.

 

4) Program Number (PNO)

The number of the program recorded on the tape.

 

5) Absolute Time (A-time)

The elapsed time from the beginning of the tape.

 

6) Program Time (P-time)

The elapsed time for each program.

 

7) Table of Contents (TOC for read only)

Used to display the total number of programs and total playing time by TOC data recorded on commercially produced product.
