Equalization

 

1. Peaking EQ:

peak (boost) / dip (cut)

- has a center frequency with a curtain bandwidth

- equal in ‘octaves’ (not number) on either side of center

- can be in any frequency range has a bell (haystack) curve may have narrow bandwidth (HI Q) or wide bandwidth (Lo Q)

2. Shelving EQ:

- has a rise(+) or drop(-) at the selected frequency that tapers to a pre-set point and shelves off to the end of frequency spectrum

- can only be in Low Frequency and High Frequency ranges
