Frequencies, Patches and Rhythm
The lower the frequency, the slower the rhythm should be. The higher the frequency, the fasterthe rhythm can be.
In a drum kit, the bass drum contains mostly low frequencies. It plays slower rhythm. The snare drum is more mid-range. It plays faster than the bass drum. The hi-hat cymbals has mostly high frequencies and it usually move twice or four times as fast as the bass drum.
This concept holds true for keyboard and bass tracks also. Bass tracks move more like bass drums. Piano and keyboard tracks move more like snare drums and high frequency synthesizers can move as fast as hi-hats if desired.
