2. Shadow effect

- Occurs in all patterns

- Any sound arriving from the direction of the Mic body

a) Will be slightly attenuated

b) Slight loss of High Frequency content

 

 

 

3. Diffraction effect

- Distortion/resonances in the High Frequency response due to reflections within the capsule 

e.g. Shure SM 58/57 (high frequency is going on a little bit up & down)

- Usually cheap microphones have diffraction effect
